BOB DYLAN - Blonde on Blonde ORIGINAL 1969 UK 1st press MONO LP  For sale is very rare UK MONO pressing 2LP set: BOB DYLAN – BLONDE ON BLONDE (CBS 66012). The matrices: A1 B1 C1 D1.The records are in VG condition and the laminated gatefold flipback sleeve is in VG+ condition.
The stereo version of the album was released unchanged in England, but the English mono album was inexplicably different from the US mono version. While the mixing was the same, two of the tracks ("Pledging My Time" and "I Want You") were longer, while one ("Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat") was shorter. Why this should be is anyone's guess. Maybe the mixing sessions produced two tapes, and the wrong one was sent to CBS in England. Whatever the reason, the UK mono version includes music at the end of those two tracks which still can't be heard on any US release of Blonde On Blonde.
It comes in the uncensored Claudia Cardinale sleeve (as can be seen in the last picture): The original story concerning the Claudia Cardinale picture was that she objected to its inclusion without her permission, and her lawyers insisted that Columbia Records remove it. However, in "Bob Dylan par Jerry Schatzberg" edited by Luc Bellier and Olivier Lorquin (Galleries Luc Bellier & Dina Vierny, France, 2006), Jerry tells the story of the design change, refuting the long-held belief that it was done at Claudia's request: "For the inside cover of  Blonde On Blonde, Dylan wanted a self-portrait of me that I had in my studio... He also wanted a photo of Claudia Cardinale that I had taken and that he saw in my studio to feature on the sleeve. After we'd done the first printing his agents - probably without informing her - refused to let her portrait to be used in that way. I supposed they didn't want her being used to promote someone else. Anyway, the photo disappeared from the later printings and I think the original cover is now a collector's item..."   Claudia has since been reported as saying she never knew anything at the time about her photo being used for the sleeve!
Blonde on Blonde is singer-songwriter Bob Dylan's seventh studio album, released in 1966 by Columbia Records. It is believed to be the first significant double album in rock music, its length forcing it to two LPs, although some digital reissues fit the album on one compact disc. It is notable for injecting Dylan's brand of blues rock, fully established on Highway 61 Revisited, with a more eclectic sound and even more surreal lyrics. Despite its uncompromising nature, it has come to be regarded as one of Dylan's greatest achievements, and "one of the greatest rock & roll albums ever made"

AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine: If Highway 61 Revisited played as a garage rock record, the double album Blonde on Blonde inverted that sound, blending blues, country, rock, and folk into a wild, careening, and dense sound. Replacing the fiery Michael Bloomfield with the intense, weaving guitar of Robbie Robertson, Bob Dylan led a group comprised of his touring band the Hawks and session musicians through his richest set of songs. Blonde on Blonde is an album of enormous depth, providing endless lyrical and musical revelations on each play. Leavening the edginess of Highway 61 with a sense of the absurd, Blonde on Blonde is comprised entirely of songs driven by inventive, surreal, and witty wordplay, not only on the rockers but also on winding, moving ballads like "Visions of Johanna," "Just Like a Woman," and "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands." Throughout the record, the music matches the inventiveness of the songs, filled with cutting guitar riffs, liquid organ riffs, crisp pianos, and even woozy brass bands ("Rainy Day Women #12 & 35"). It's the culmination of Dylan's electric rock & roll period -- he would never release a studio record that rocked this hard, or had such bizarre imagery, ever again.
