Beatles 3rd State (Peeled) #6 LA Mono Butcher Cover
Professionally Peeled Butcher Covers in general have steadily risen in value of the last few years and are fetching crazy numbers in high profile catalog auctions. Unfortunately, too many covers continue to be severely damaged by amateur peels and it pays to invest wisely and consider the quality of the peel when investing in a 3rd state (peeled) cover. While this scarce #6 LA cover is a bit far from a top copy such as our last offering, this is very reasonably priced considering the overall look of the peel which is better than most covers that you will find in this opening price range (under $700). While the seams, spine and back have some issues, this still presents very well. See last photo for this jacket in 2nd state during the peeling process. These Los Angeles jackets can be notoriously difficult to peel.
This Butcher Cover first time offering as we've been requested to list a displayable cover with a starting bid of under $700.This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. A high quality peel recently sold in a catalog auction for $7500 ! Look for yourself at the offerings on the net and compare. This is a great opportunity to purchase a jacket that you will be proud to display and one that would be perfect to frame without breaking the bank. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition
Butcher Cover is awesome and something that any fan would treasure. Biggest issue with the front cover cover is the edge wear/chipping seen on the mouth edge (See close up photo). Some light glue residue and minor touch up. The seams and spine have issues (see detailed description below) which is not unusual on most of these record jackets. Please see below for further more specific details about jacket condition.
Seams:
Top seam shows flaking and cracking throughout. Same thing with the bottom seam. Both appear to have been neatly glued to mitigate the spread of these splits. Please see photos.
Spine:
Spine paper is mostly gone and the album title/catalog number is no longer legible. The rest of the spine shows some general wear/cracking and tape staining, etc but appears to have been neatly glued. See spine photo.
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket shows some light soiling and general moderate wear/aging and Initials TV in the bottom right hand corner. Small piece of cardboard missing at very top border on left hand side of back. (Please see photo of back and close up photo of top back border).
Trunk Slick:
Removed Trunk Slick is NOT INCLUDED.
Record/Inner Sleeve:
Mono Record is included in poor to fair visual condition (has not been play graded). This is what came with this jacket.
Capitol 1965 Olive Inner Sleeve is included. Butcher Covers were also often shipped with these as well as the Orange 1966 inner sleeves.
Look around for prices and quality on Mono peels out there. Many are noticeable amateur efforts with noticeable severe damage from unprofessional peeling. Although this jacket does show some seam and spine cracks, the peel is decent with minor glue residue/touch ups here and there. Regardless, this presents better than 99% of all Mono peels that you see out there in this price range. This is an awesome piece of Rock and Roll history.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to the recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $34.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $34.99. No International Shipping on this item. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts should contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
Please note: Butcher T-shirt seen in background is NOT included in auction.
Thank You and Happy Bidding !
