LOU REED "TRANSFORMER" Original 1972 U.S edition of the classic LP (RCA) LSP-4807. VG-/VG. Produced by David Bowie & Mick Ronson. Featuring "Walk On The Wild Side".

The Velvet Underground recorded 4 highly influential albums in the late 60s & early 70s but never really sold many records. Their art rock stance & street-wise lyrics practically defined the coming Punk Rock/New Wave movements of the 70s. The mastermind of the group was Lou Reed- the lead vocalist & songwriter who created such classics as “I'm Waiting For The Man”, “White Light, White Heat”, “Sweet Jane” & “Rock & Roll”. After the group broke up, Lou began a solo career with a rather tentative debut album but hooked up longtime admirer David Bowie as producer for  this 1972 breakout LP “Transformer” in 1972. Bowie brought along his Spiders From Mars cohort Mick Ronson as co-producer & lead guitarist. This record contains the classic “Walk On The Wild Side” which climbed all the way to #16 on the Billboard singles charts in 1973 despite it's controversial lyric content. Other key tracks are “Vicious” & “Satellite Of Love” on this classic LP which also features Klaus Voorman on bass & Herbie Flowers on string bass & flute.

Side 1 1. Vicious 2. Andy's Chest 3. Perfect Day 4. Hangin' 'Round 5. Walk On The Wild Side
Side 2 1. Make Up 2. Satellite Of Love 3. Wagon Wheel 4. New York Telephone Conversation 5. I'm So Free 6. Goodnight Ladies
Cover has medium shelf wear, a corner "ding" on the upper left, a name written lightly on the lower front plus a name written inside the sleeve (not visible when record is inserted)  but it still looks acceptable. Record w/orange RCA labels looks & sounds great w/no scratches but has a scuff on side 1 that does not affect play. In original RCA "Dynaflex" generic inner sleeve.
