M / MINT: Used only for sealed records or unplayed new stock
NM / NEAR MINT: looks brand new

EX or VG++ / EXCELLENT: faint surface marks or light use without any major flaws
VG+ / VERY GOOD PLUS: shows signs of use, light wear, a few spindle marks, if there’s a scratch or serious mark it will be play tested and described, if it doesn’t sound it’s VG+
VG / VERY GOOD: light scratches or groove wear may be present, at this grade most items are play-tested and wear will be described. Some crackle will be present but shouldn’t overpower music
VG- or G+ / VERY GOOD MINUS: worn out, significant wear scratches throughout, enough groove wear to cause hissing. If something is offered in this condition, it’s usually rare, obscure or hard to find in any condition. Should still play through but enjoyment will be relative.
F or G / FAIR or GOOD: so worn or damaged it might not play through. A rare label or scarce item that’s hard to find in any condition. Record covers and labels make great art, these are those wall hangers and conversation pieces.
