Ginette Neveu - HMV ALP 1520 UK Mono Vinyl rare 1st Ed - Chausson Debussy Ravel.

Scarce & wanted vinyl record of the French Stadivarius violonist

Ginette Neveu was a virtuoso violinist until her premature death at the age of thirty in a plane crash in 1949, the same crash that killed boxer Marcel Cerdan, Edith Piaf's man. A pupil of Ionesco, she won competitions against David Oïstrakh, which shows her level of virtuosity. Here, she plays with her pianist brother Jean Neveu, performing a Chausson poem, a Debussy sonata and Ravel's "Tzigane". It's impossible to remain unmoved by this music. Some inevitable sporadic cracking and few pops (nothing serious really) probably more related to the conditions of transfer from 78 rpm to 33 rpm than to the condition of this NM-looking copy. The sleeve is in top condition, with a few micro-folds at the opening and very slight traces of age here and there. Cover shows a painting by Henri Matisse. Classic holy grail! Mono.
