LP a copertina apribile, appartenente alla serie Limited Edition “Rock Best 100” e stampato da Sony/CBS Japan su etichetta gialla e arancio CBS/Sony, a 9 tracce, con inserto di 2 pagine riportante i testi in inglese e note biografiche in giapponese. Larga OBI a colori, a sfondo rosso e bianco, riportante il prezzo di yen 2.500.

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, 20 luglio 1947) è un chitarrista messicano, tra i musicisti di maggior successo nella storia del rock. Ha cominciato a riscuotere consensi tra gli anni settanta ed ottanta, con il suo gruppo Santana Blues Band. Già allora mescolava vari generi, quali salsa, rock classico, blues e fusion. Lì come oggi, Santana usava in modo estensivo i suoi assoli di chitarra, e si avvaleva anche di strumenti più tradizionali del suo paese. In seguito ha continuato a sperimentare questa formula, tra alterne fortune. Nel corso degli anni novanta Santana rischiò il declino, scongiurato nel 1999 dall'album Supernatural. Grazie a questo lavoro, il miglior successo della sua carriera, ha fatto conoscere la sua filosofia musicale alle nuove generazioni. Ha venduto più di 80 milioni di dischi, ed è anche considerato tra i migliori chitarristi rock esistenti.

Abraxas è il suo secondo album in studio, pubblicato nel settembre 1970. L'album presenta un mix di salsa, blues, rock and roll, jazz ed altre influenze che lo hanno reso un classico che definisce lo stile iniziale di Santana, e che presenta una maturazione in ambito musicale rispetto al primo album del gruppo. Proprio il mix tra lo stile tipico latino ed elementi caratterizzanti della musica rock and roll, come l'utilizzo di strumenti quali chitarra elettrica in overdrive ed organo. Nel 2003, la rivista Rolling Stone ha inserito l'album al 205º posto della sua lista dei 500 migliori album secondo Rolling Stone. Spesso viene considerato come il migliore tra gli album di Santana, che conta vasti consensi per la sua miscela di influenze latine con temi rock caratterizzati da veri e propri overdrive di chitarra elettrica ed organo. Abraxas dimostra al pubblico anche la versalità stilistica del chitarrista messicano, come nel brano Samba Pa Ti e Incident at Neshabur, entrambi strumentali. Quest'ultimo ha caratterizza ritmi diversi tra loro e diversi tipi di ritmo. Le percussioni latine - congas, timbales e bongos - rendono questa prima incursione di Santana ricca di ritmi latini. Il titolo dell'album deriva da una citazione del libro Demian di Herman Hesse. Nel 1998, la Sony ha pubblicato una versione rimasterizzata, con tre brani inediti live: Se A Cabo, Toussaint L'Overture e Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen, registrati live alla Royal Albert Hall il 18 aprile del 1970. La copertina rappresenta un particolare del dipinto del 1961 L'annunciazione, di Mati Klarwein.

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, 20 July 1947) is a Mexican guitarist, among the most successful musicians in rock history. Abraxas is the second studio album, released in September 1970.
