• It’s been a few years since BGP unleashed a batch of 45s, and we felt it was about time. We think that this is the finest set of 45s that we have ever put out - a real mix of rarity, quality and desirability. 

• We start with two of the most sought-after recordings from the King group of labels; Roosevelt Matthews’ ‘Tighten Up’ featuring Billy Ball and the Upsetters. This has often been bootlegged under the title ‘Tighten Up Tighter’ and is a stunning version of the Archie Bell classic. This is backed by Marie ‘Queenie’ Lyons’ ‘See and Don’t See’ which rarely hangs around when an original on DeLuxe comes up for sale. We have more sister funk with Brenda George’s all-time classics ‘I Can’t Stand It’ and ‘What You See Is What You Get’. These have been floor-fillers for years, making the original Kent single a very desirable piece of vinyl. 

• Our next two singles feature three of the rarest funk sides on the planet, and a cut that has never before been on a 7 inch single anywhere. The Uniques’ ‘Give Me Another Chance’ is one of the rarest funk singles ever, a superb uptempo dancer that sold for nearly $3000 when it last came up for auction. It is backed with the equally rare and sought-after street funk of the Eternal Flames, which might realistically be expected to fetch the same if it ever did come up for auction. 

• The Love Experience’s ‘Are You Together For The New Day’ is an amazing funk-soul blast that is not only wanted by funk collectors but is also enjoying some success in the rarified world of Northern Soul. We have put this together with another recording from the Golden State Recorders Studio in San Francisco - 87th Over Broadway’s ‘Moving Woman’ - a rewrite of the Bay Area classic ‘I’m A Good Woman’.

• Our final single couples a break beat funk classic with a BGP classic. Billy Garner’s ‘I Got Some’ on the beautiful looking New Day label has long been sought after by DJ’s and producers since it was first used by  DJ Premier to create the beat for ‘B.Y.S’ in 1992. Garner’s ‘Brand New Girl’ was found in the vaults of New Day owner Dave Hamilton and became an instant deep funk classic on its limited release on a BGP 45 ten years ago, with copies of that now fetching good money we felt it was time to give it a new lease of 7inch life. - ACE RECORDS
