Helen Traubel, soprano
Coenraad Bos, piano
Columbia ML-2072 (10" mono vinyl LP). Cover by Steinweiss, copyright 1949
Record and cover are E++/M-. Beginning of paper yellowing on back. . Tight, unsoiled cover. Record has slightest wear around one side of spindle hole. Barely visible scuff on "Mainacht". Otherwise appears immaculate.
Bos played the wored premire in 1896, accompanying Anton Sistermans, later with Raymond von zur Muehlen. Brahms was in the audience for both. (This from the liner notes.) He certainly would have been coached by the composer. This is an essential document for the study of performance practice of Brahms' music. Was this ever issued outside the U.S.?
