to determine the best grade if I can't determine it visually. (Unless the record is Mint that is, then I wont play it at all)

GRADING:   Mint - Unplayed
NM Near Mint  - a near perfect record with little to no blemishes at all.
VG+ Very Good Plus - the record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little deterioration in sound quality.  VG Very Good - a well used copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages.  VG- Very Good Minus - significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise.  G  Good - A  record with a lot of wear and marks/scratches and a heavily damaged cover.
P- record has significant wear and probably can not be played well for listening purposes.
