A (3) - LP opera set on the BJR label (Private Recording) that is in pristine (NM) shape.
Considered by many to be among the greatest performances by Maria Callas, it showcases her early, high soprano voice in full bel canto range.
Recorded by Callas mavens, Santiago Rodriguez and Charles Johnson for their“Private Label BJR 133-3 (Mono).
As with many of these mid-20th century“live concert”recordings, the audience makes its presence heard in stirrings and occasional coughs; but also with well deserved ovations which lend a bit of excitement to this recording. The pit orchestra, by definition, is somewhat sonically removed. The microphone placements for principal singers, on the other hand, are excellent and the vocal recordings, especially from Ms. Callas are breathtaking.
While archiving these (3) lps, I can attest that the set not only looks pristine, but plays clean and quiet, as well.
This opera set will be well-packed and promptly mailed via media mail with tracking and insurance for a flat rate of $4.00
Since I'm somewhat reluctant to part with this gem, I will agree to a full refund of the purchase price and outbound shipping should this transaction prove unsatisfactory to the buyer within 14 days upon its receipt. Return shipping will still be up to you.
“Lewis, it's Maria Callas, for God's sake.”
