Mumford & Sons are an English band. The band consists of (lead vocals, guitar, drums, ), (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums), (vocals, , guitar, , ), and (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar). Mumford & Sons were formed in December 2007, emerging from West London with such artists as , and .

Mumford & Sons recorded an EP, "Love Your Ground", and performed in small to medium-sized venues in the UK and the United States playing to new audiences and raising interest for a forthcoming album. Their debut album, , was released in the UK and Ireland in October 2009, and February 2010 in the US. The album reached number one in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and eventually peaked at number two on the and the in the US. The band gained popularity throughout 2010, performing for larger audiences and making their first network television appearances in the US. On 1 December 2010, the band received two nominations, one for and the other for (""). The ensuing live performance at the Grammy ceremony in February 2011 led to an increased airplay and popularity for singles from Sigh No More. The band won the for Most Popular International Artist in 2010, and the in 2011 for .

The band's second studio album was released in September 2012. The album debuted at number one in the UK and US, becoming the fastest selling album of 2012 in the UK, and the second-biggest selling debut in 2012 in the US. At the , they sang "" and Babel won the for . In 2013 the band won a Brit Award for .

On 20 September 2013, the band announced they were going on hiatus for a "considerable amount of time." In December 2013, the band's bassist, Ted Dwane, stated that the band would be meeting to write new music in February 2014.

On 20 July 2014, Ben Lovett confirmed that they are currently recording their third studio album in London.

Laura Beatrice Marling (born 1 February 1990) is a musician from , , England. Her debut album , her second album , and her fourth album were nominated for the in 2008, 2010, and 2013, respectively. She won Best Female Solo Artist at the and was nominated for the same award at the and . Marling's music is critically lauded and she has been noted as one of the most talented songwriters of her generation thus far.

The youngest of three daughters, Marling was born in Hampshire, England, and learned guitar at an early age. Her father, Sir Charles William Somerset Marling, the ran a , introduced her to folk music and shaped her musical taste, an experience that Marling later described as "a bit of a blessing and a bit of a curse. I couldn’t slot myself into the age-appropriate genre". Marling was educated at , a school in . Marling later revealed that during her secondary school years she felt uneasy around other people and was afraid of death—in 2013, Marling described her teenage self as "weird".

At 16, Marling dropped out of school and moved to London, where she soon joined a cluster of intertwined bands that were drawn to acoustic instruments and tradition-tinged melodies—the group formed a musical movement that was labelled "nu-folk" by the British press. Marling joined the original line-up of indie folk band and appears as a background vocalist on their début album ; however, she left the group before the album's 2008 release due to a dissolved relationship with a fellow band member. Marling also appeared on track "Suspicious Eyes", from the band's 2007 album , credited as 'Laura Marlin'. Marling would later collaborate with and contributed guest vocals to the single "" that was released 24 March 2008.
