I am a huge vinyl junkie, attempting some major downsizing (stereos too). When I mention full or high gloss, I absolutely can not tell the difference between this record and brand new wax, fresh out of the shrink. MY GRADING SYSTEM, Goldmine-based: grading the lower if in between. (NM, VG+, VG, G). I never consider anything Mint unless shrink-wrapped, and RARELY acquire anything less than Good. Vinyl visually graded then actually spot played on my set-up (Technics 1100A turntable, McIntosh MC2205 amp, Mcintosh C32 pre-amp, Ed Frias/EFE Technology Loudspeakers)
My grading system:
NM is NEAR MINT may have one tiny scuff or one tiny finger print, that's it.
VG+ is VERY GOOD PLUS May have scuff marks and signs of some wear but will still play almost perfectly throughout, with only "barely detectable" crackles or pops. A slight noise at the beginning is allowable, but the remainder will be nearly flawless. Cover may only have the slightest signs of normal wear.
VG is VERY GOOD One minor scratch & some scuffs. May crackle, pop or make other slightly annoying noises, but only occasionally, never continuously, and not more loudly than the music being listened to. Cover has normal used cover wear such as ring wear and split seams
G is GOOD Some scratches. May have continuous crackles, pops, etc, but not so loud as to make the music completely unlistenable or unenjoyable to the casual listener. Cover has more than normal wear and tear. More for collector completists
