Record will be brand new and in perfect condition, still sealed where possible.
Near Mint (NM or M-)
Record will be in almost perfect condition with not many signs of wear. The cover will have only slight signs of handling.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Record will only show minimal signs of wear such as surface marks or slight warps that do not affect the sound. Label may also show a little discoloration and/or ring wear. Very good plus records have been well taken care of.
Sleeve will also show slight wear such as tiny seem split, turned up corners or creased.
Very Good (VG)
Very good vinyl record will have more surface marks and scratches than very good plus. Surface noise such as crackles or small clicks that may affect the sound will be evident, but will not overpower music. Label may have graffiti or stickers on. However, very good records are still widely playable.
Sleeve may have stem splits or tape to repair this, stickers/graffiti or discolouration.
Good (G), Good Plus (G+)
Good or good plus vinyl record will have the defects of a very good record but will have more surface noise and deep scratches. Good or good plus record will play through without jumping.
Sleeve will have more severe splits/tape, graffiti and/or stickers than a very good sleeve.
Poor (P), Fair (F)
Record may be badly warped or even cracked and may not play through without skipping.
Sleeve may be split so that it won’t hold the record, water damaged and extremely worn.
Generic Sleeve (Generic)
Generic sleeve will be plain, possibly card or paper and come in all different conditions as it is only used as protection for the record.
