Record: G+
Cover: VG
Inner: VG+
Record has lots of light scuffs and hairlines. Looks G+. Plays VG with light
crackle that is behind the music, more obvious between tracks.
Cover has some creases at the edges and the spine has some ink wear. It also has
some residue from the sealing sticker and is bulging a little.
I grade my records visually in strong light and listen if uncertain. I
am very keen on everybody being happy about the deal so I am very strict in
grading both records and covers.
I have seen many strange gradings around. Some professional
dealers even call it NM- what I consider to be VG. Here are in short my
definitions.
Mint = Sealed
NM = No marks, no noise.
EX = A few light marks, no noise except maybe occasional groove dust light
crackle.
VG+ = Some light marks, a little light background crackling accepted.
VG = Light marks here and there, no scratches. Obvious crackling but not
disturbing.
G+ = Worn with marks over all, maybe scratches giving ticks and clicks, no
skips, still enjoyable as crackling is mostly behind the music.
G = Worn with scratches and marks, clicks and pops, no skips, enjoyable as
reference.
F = Worn with a few skips and heavy crackling.
Records looking for instance VG+ but playing EX will be
graded VG+
Records looking EX but playing VG+ will be graded VG+
Records playing EX apart from a spot with a few pops will
be graded VG
