‘Doin’ The Popcorn Ska’ is a collection of EPs which collects 60s Ska rarities performed by artists that were not Jamaican. Back in 1964, Millie Small's "My Boy Lollipop" was the record that started the USA crooner ska craze featured on the first three "Doin' The Popcorn Ska" EPs:
Volume 1: Neil Sedaka - Do The Jellyfish, Annette - Jamaica Ska, The Fleetwoods - Ska Light Ska Bright, Baby Earl & The Trini-Dads - Back Slop
Volume 2: Steve Alaimo - I Don't Wanna Cry, The Angels - Jamaica Joe, Hamilton King - Diana, Tracey Dey - Ska-Doo-Dee-Yah
Volume 3: Jeff Bowen - Suzie Ska, Pussycats - Come On And Ska, Marketts - Come See Come Ska, Rockin' Rebels - Bongo Blue Beat
On volume 4 the series turned to releasing actual cover versions of "MY BOY LOLLIPOP" from international singers/crooners:
Laura LeeMy Boy Lollipop (UK) Les Gam'sC'est Toi Mon Idole(France) Heidi BachertMy Boy Lollipop (Germany) Mayte GaosMi Novio Esquimal (Spain/Mexico)
Not content with one EP of "My Boy Lollipop" cover versions, Popcorn Ska delivered another quartet of Lollipop licks on Volume 5: From Finland we have Marion Rung, from France Ye-Ye Gal Agnes Loti, there's Chinese-a-go-go star Billie Tam, and finally over to America for a rendition by pop vocalist Teresa Brewer.
