CONDITION: USED/Very Good.
SPECIAL INFO: This extremely scarce item features a recording of some of Volpe's poems read to orchestral music (recited by the artist). Included in the box are 12 images painted by Volpe, with each poem printed on each sheet.
Nicholas Volpe (1911-1992) was most famous for his portraits of Academy
Award-winning actors, The Beatles, NFL teams, etc. He won a Grammy in
1959 for his artwork on Frank Sinatra's "Only the Lonely" album
cover. In 1963, the Sunday Los Angeles Herald-Examiner began publishing
his paintings and poetry in a regular feature called "Byways." This
special Limited Edition mail-order box set compiles 12 of
Volpe's poems, recited by the artist and set to music,
accompanied by 12 prints of his paintings.
