This is an unlabeled 12 inch aluminum acetate disc recorded at 33 1/3 rpm and has a total of 8 tracks by vocalist Helen Ward. I personally acquired this record several years ago from the Helen Ward estate. I do not know the genesis of this particular recording session but I can say that it has not been issued commercially to the public. It may be from a Radio Transcription but again I am not certain. By the sound of her voice I would date this session sometime during the early to mid 1950's. Helen is accompanied by a small group that includes tenor saxophone, piano, electric guitar, bass, and sometimes drums. The tenor sax sounds very much like Peanuts Hucko to me.

Side A Tunes - Come Rain or Come Shine, Imagination, Loves Got Me In a Lazy Mood, Fools Rush In

Side B Tunes - My Old Flame, Fools Rush In (Not the same tune as Side A!), I Hadn't Anyone 'Til You, We'll Be Together Again.

Disc Condition:  Side A is VG; Side B is VG+. Both sides have scuffs and scratches which occasionally sound but do not affect tracking. Side A has more scratches than Side B. Both sides have some inherent acetate surface noise but not to the level of distraction. I have transferred this disc digitally to my computer and the occasional scratches cleaned up very nicely with my Cool Edit software.

The fidelity is very good overall.

Cover condition: Generic cover which is taped and aged. See scans. I knew Helen very well having visited her many times and I believe that the tune titles written in pencil on the generic album cover are in her handwriting.
