Welcome, this week I've got a tremendous collection of nearly 500 records from a former Pickwick employee from when they relocated to Minneapolis, MN in the early 80s. Many of these records have been sitting on the shelf for decades and look almost unplayed. It includes a great selection of original 60s psychedelic, garage, mod, prog and folk LPs and 45s including 13th Floor Elevators, Ash Ra Tempel, the Yardbirds, an ENORMOUS Beatles collection including 40 picture sleeve 45s and more up to a wonderful selection of late 70s/early 80s punk, post-punk, and new wave including huge portions of the catalogs from the Clash, the Fall, Husker Du, Elvis Costello, and many more. And to emphasize, I haven't seen records this clean - many virtually unplayed - all together in a long, long time and maybe not all together like this ever. I have been buying, selling, trading, and appraising records for nearly 20 years. I grade carefully using the below outlines. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Please take a look at the other auctions and happy bidding!

ARTIST: The Beatles

TITLE: Rubber Soul

YEAR: 1973

VINYL GRADE: EX

COVER GRADE: EX

NOTES: 1973 UK press. Black Parlophone EMI label. Excellent playback.

GRADING SCALE:

I try to take into account both visual and audio grading when grading records. I take care to grade each record individually and try to at least spot-check listen to everything that I list so I can stand by my gradings. Here's how that breaks down:

• SEALED I don't use Mint (M) because I don't open up sealed records but consider this to be the highest grade as they are completely unplayed.

• NEAR MINT (NM) records appear virtually unplayed with no visual defects. Labels will be clean and properly centered. NM covers are free of creases, ring wear and seam splits.

• EXCELLENT (EX) or VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS (VG++) records are close to NM but may show a couple very slight cosmetic signs of wear. Overall an incredibly beautiful copy. EX covers should have only minor wear.

• VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) Similar to EX records in strong playback but may have a few more visible imperfections. VG+ covers may have some ringwear, seamwear, or cornerwear but will not be cumulative.

• VERY GOOD (VG) records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. Groove wear may be evident as may light scratches but nothing causing loud clicks or any jumps/skips. A VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible but noise will not overpower the music otherwise. VG covers will have more cumulative signs of human handling.

• VERY GOOD MINUS (VG-) records may have more cumulative flaws to start to distract from the music or could be a very nice looking record otherwise that has a deep scratch that causes noticeably loud clicks/pops. VG- covers will start to have some overwhelming signs of human handling including stickers, small tears, larger seam splits, tape on seams.

• GOOD (G) records still play through without skipping, so they can serve as filler until something better comes along. But they have significant surface noise and groove wear, and visible imperfections will be much greater. A Good cover has ring wear to the point of distraction, has seam splits obvious on sight and may have even heavier writing, such as, for example, huge radio station letters written across the front to deter theft. I generally don't list many G records unless they are very rare and collectible so may have some great interest to record collectors/listeners even in their condition. I do use G+ and G- to express slight variances within this range.
