Hello. For your consideration is this brand new factory sealed Grateful Dead Winterland 5/30/71 double vinyl set. This is a Black Friday Record Store Day release from 2012. This limited edition (7500 copies) vinyl set is the only medium on which this show is officially available. No release on cd for this incredible concert, and it sounds amazing!

The last 4 photos show the front and back of a corner that has a small area of discoloration/stain. This was there when I bought it at the record store, and the guy gave me a $5 discount. It is just on the outside of the gatefold and is really nothing. I’m not sure what it even is. The record store guy said it was like that when he unpacked his RSD order. It may even wipe off, but I do not know if it will, so it should be considered possibly permanent. The last photo shows the whole spine of the gatefold cover and notice that area of discoloration can just barely be seen on the very right edge of the spine.

There are a couple spots where the plastic seal is separated on the edge that is perforated. These spots are like a half inch. It is the type of lp cellophane that has one edge that is perforated to make it easy to tear off, leaving you the plastic sleeve to store the vinyl set in if you want to. So it is this edge you would remove anyway, where these couple of very small separations are. Please check photos 6-9 to see the corners. There is just the one tiny bump on the top left corner (photo 6). It is tiny and it is really nothing. All other corners are sharp. This set is new and sealed. I have included info from deadnet and the track lists below. This is another must have piece of a fantastic early live Grateful Dead concert from May 30, 1971 at the Winterland in San Francisco. Awesome!

From deadnet:

The Grateful Dead made Winterland its home for years until 1978, when the band closed Bill Graham’s legendary venue for good with a spectacular New Year’s Eve blow out. The friendly confines of the former ice-skating rink always seemed to bring out something special in the band. That’s certainly true of the group’s May 30, 1971 performance, which was the second night of a homestand during the era later immortalized on the 1971 live collection Skull and Roses.

For Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on November 23, Dead.net and Rhino will release a portion of that show (all that the band has in their vault) for the first time, offering it on 180-gram vinyl as a limited edition double-LP set of 7500 copies.

Sourced from the original reels of ¼” tape, the music was mastered by Jeffrey Norman and the vinyl lacquers were cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and then pressed at RTI. Grammy®-winning graphic artist Masaki Koike evokes the Skull and Roses album cover for this set’s gorgeous gatefold.

It’s over one hour of Dead classics that covers nearly the entire second set, which was packed with crowd pleasers like “Sugar Magnolia,” “Truckin’” and “Deal.” One entire LP side is dedicated exclusively to “Turn On Your Lovelight,” a 15-minute-plus romp led by singer/organist Ron “Pigpen” McKernan. For its encore, the band – Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and McKernan – capped the evening off with raucous “Johnny B. Goode.”
