Lot of 7 Lou Reed Velvet Underground Records LP Vinyl Bowie Warhol NYC Heroin Factory:

First off, I had no idea that VU and Lou Reed were to sign so many labels. And, what’s with all the gatefolds and double records?  Lou Reed Live is a double LP with only 10 songs. I thought Led Zeppelin and Dazed and Confused had that corner taken.

All pressing info is obtained through discogs.com

As you will see, I rated every record to the best of my abilities. Nothing is mint and nothing is crap; the lot is in-between the two. Ask question, crazy record collectors, ok?

Title: Lou Reed, Rock-n-Roll Animal, RCA, AYL-3664

Cover: VG/VG+: A little bit of ring wear and shelf wear to edges, wax residue from a candle to right front corner – about a 1” triangle (I do not suggest listening to this record while burning candles) and bottom right back veneer is peeling back. Peel is about 3” and it protrudes about ¼” into the cover. Small 1/2” rip emanating from veneer peel. Got it?

Vinyl: VG+/EX: I think this one will cleanup well. Some fingerprints and surface scratches.

Inner Sleeve: Generic white sleeve

Title: Lou Reed, Street Hassle, Arista, AB 4169

Cover: VG+: Ring wear, a little shelf wear, creasing to edges, wear and little bit of fraying to spine and three drop-size veneer tears to opening edge.

Vinyl: EX: Good shape. Little to no scratches except for one 3” waxy scratch and some fingerprints smears.

Inner Sleeve: Generic white sleeve

Title: Lou Reed, Transformer, RCA, AYL-3806

Cover: EX+: Ring wear to front and back, two rubs to corners, slight wear to spine (not bad) and some shelf wore to the edges. Best Buy Series mark on front.

Vinyl: EX: Very good shape, will cleanup well. A few long waxy marks and fingerprints.

Inner Sleeve: Boring generic white sleeve in good shape.

Title: Lou Reed, Take No Prisoners, Arista, AL-8502, Gatefold, 1st Pressing

Cover: EX/EX+: Cover in really good shape.  Very little wear to spine and slight ring wear to front and back. Inner gatefold is great. Cover is made of substantial cardboard and feels heavy and secure.

Vinyl: VG+/EX: Not a lot of small, out of the sleeve scratches, but a fair amount of long, wax-like scratches and fingerprint smears (oily). Not bad.

Inner Sleeve: B&W picture sleeves in good shape. 3” tear to opening of one sleeve.

Title: Andy Warhol’s Velvet Underground Featuring Nico, MGM, 2683 006 (British First Pressing)

Cover: EX/EX+: Cover is good shape.  Little to no ring wear, a little decoration around the edges and drop-size mark to lower back left. One-inch quarter moon-like water mark to bottom left corner, extending to gatefold and back.  Gatefold is great except for watermark which becomes a half moon when gatefold is open. For the record, the watermark is less than a day old. Yep, I placed in on a table with a little water residue from a drink. Yep.

Vinyl: EX: Really good shape, just a little dusty. Best of the bunch!!!

Inner Sleeve: Generic white sleeve

Title: Velvet Underground, 1969, Mercury, SRM-2-7504, Gatefold, First Pressing

Cover: VG/VG+: Ring and shelf wear to front and back, slight ring wear to one side of gatefold, normal wear to spine, a little fraying to spine – not much and the first opening of gatefold is split to spine. Cover still good, though.

Vinyl:  VG: Some small surface scratches, handful of fingerprints and wax marks (larger, transparent scratches) and a few blobs (transparent, cloud-like marks). The record probably spent some time out of the sleeve.

Inner Sleeve: Mercury advertisement sleeve in good shape. Some creasing to corners.

Title: Velvet Underground, VU, Polygram/Verve, 823-721-4-Y-1, First Pressing

Cover: VG+: Wear and some fraying to spine, Ring and some shelf wear to front and back and very little creasing (odd). Cover retains sheen despite its age and feels substantial.

Vinyl: VG: Lots of small surface scratches, handful of fingerprints and wax marks (larger, transparent scratches) and a few blobs (transparent, cloud-like marks). I assume the copious small scratches are from being temporarily stored next to other sleeveless records. Bad record collector!

Inner Sleeve: “Story” sleeve is split on three sides, just barely resisting becoming two pieces instead of one. Besides that “minor” problem, sleeve is in good shape.
