This is your chance to own an original 1973 early pressing of the classic TUBULAR BELLS vinyl LP by Mike Oldfield on the Virgin label, V2001.
Condition is Used.
This record has been kept in a cool dry cupboard and un-played for well over 40 years having been purchased by me in the 1970s and then carried off to university and subsequent houses in a record box.
I have not played it, to check track quality, as I no longer have a respectable turntable fearing that one of today's modern USB record decks would act more like a plastic milling machine. My comments below are therefore based on a close visual inspection only. I have not cleaned the disc.
Disc:
Side 1:
The label is in near mint condition with crisp printing and little or no rubbing to the central spindle hole with no spindle rub marks.
The disc surface is in excellent condition with no visible rubbing or skid marks or scratches. There is some slight surface dust and a few partial fingerprints visible. The Matrix / Runout is stamped in three areas with V 2001 A-2U, 1 and D.
Side 2.
The label is in good condition with crisp printing, some finger marks and little or no rubbing to the central spindle hole with no spindle rub marks.
The disc surface is in excellent condition with no visible rubbing or skid marks or scratches. There is some slight surface dust and a few partial fingerprints visible. The Matrix / Runout is stamped in two areas with V 2001 B-2U and G D (sideways).
The photographs hopefully give some idea of the condition of the vinyl discs.
Sleeve:
The original sleeves are in good overall condition with no tears, little or no creasing to the corners and only minimal age related discolouration.
Cover:
The laminated cover is in good overall condition. The cardboard is smooth and crisp with no visible delamination and little or no rubbing and wear to the spine, bottom edges and corners. There is slight damage to the top edge, where the record has begun to punch through the crease (see photograph) and a dirt spot in the lower right front corner.
Please inspect the photographs carefully.
SHIPPING:
For shipping the record and inner sleeve will be removed from the outer cover and replaced by a corrugated insert; the cover, sleeve and record will then be plastic wrapping and packed in double stiff corrugated packaging.
