This listing is for a BLUE VINYL version of THE SHINS Oh, Inverted World released in 2002 by Sub Pop Records
VINYL RECORD: VG+ ALBUM SLEEVE: NM-
GRADING NOTES: The sleeve looks fantastic, sharp both front and back. The vinyl has some light surface marks but none that affect its playing, in fact it sounded great upon testing.
VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!! Thank you very very much for looking at my listing. I want you to know that I have examined all of my records as best as I possibly can. I have looked at the condition of the sleeve(s) and the condition of the vinyl itself at least 3 times throughout the process of building each of my listings. First, in the preliminary/prep stage when making initial notes. Second, once again (often days later with fresh eyes) after the LP was properly cleaned**. And finally (at least) once more in my final review before each listing goes "live". But I am human. And it is a quite delicate and subjective situation when grading records. All that said, I have done my best to err on the side of caution and choose the lesser rating whenever this was in question. I would rather have you be pleasantly surprised that an item is in better shape than advertised versus the other way around. I have also played passages that I thought might be affected by light scratches or visible scuff marks and listened best I could with fresh ears to even further help determine a legitimate rating. Below is a synopsis of the main categories from the Goldmine Grading System (industry standard) that I referenced over and over again when examining my vinyl. Additional pictures, especially of the vinyl itself, available upon request... but please, I would prefer to do this for fairly serious inquiries/buyers only whenever possible. **NOTE: All of my records have been professionally cleaned with a VPI 16.5 Recording Cleaning machine and Mobile Fidelity cleaning fluids. For those unaware, this machine costs $800 to purchase new! NEAR MINT (NM)
A good description of a NM record is “it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time.” In other words, it’s nearly perfect. NM records are shiny, with no visible defects. Writing, stickers or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any “spindle marks” from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable. If played, it will do so with no surface noise. NM covers are free of creases, ring wear and seam splits of any kind. VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) A good description of a VG+ record is “except for a couple minor things, this would be NM Near Mint”. Most collectors, especially those who want to play their records, will be happy with a VG+ record, especially if it toward the high end of the grade (sometimes called VG++). VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. VERY GOOD (VG)
VG records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident, as are light scratches. Surface noise is a bit more be audible, especially in soft passages or during a song’s intro and ending. But the noise will not overpower the music otherwise. The cover has signs of human handling. Ring wear is obvious, though not overwhelming. More creases might be visible. There may be writing or it or a price tag sticker. +++ SHIPPING NOTES: All records are removed from the album covers to prevent potential "seam splits" during the shipping process.
