10 78 rpm discs put out by the International Record Collectors Club starting in the 1930s. They constitute maybe half of those they issued then.
These are dubs of cylinders Lionel Mapleson recorded from above the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House from 1901 through 1903. Among other things, these appear to be the only authenticated recordings of the legendary tenor, Jean De Reszke. Though many, including this group, were later issued by the New York Public Library in an LP box, the ageing of these 2 minute wax cylinders in the 30 or so years between dubbings make some of the IRCC 78s clearer than later electronic attempts could bring out. They vary from moderately faint to a product of concentrated, sometimes wishful listening, with considerable surface noise. Their history is well covered on the internet.
