Up for auction is a very nice original pressing of the debut self-titled John Prine album, originally released in the U.S. on Atlantic Records (SD 8296) in 1971:
-Guaranteed original pressing, not recent reissue -Original 1841 Broadway NY address on labels -AT/GP George Piros mastering etched in deadwax -Original paste-down cover -Still in opened factory shrink wrap
-Original lyric sheet insert -Original and date correct Atlantic inner sleeve (very rare!) -No UPC/bar code on cover -Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve
Note: Original pressings of this album must have the original 1841 Broadway address on the labels AND the GP George Piros mastering mark in the deadwax, indicating it's a superior sound quality pressing sought after by collectors. Most copies of this album sold on eBay as "originals" are reissues!
Condition: Cover is in beautiful, archival condition still protected by original shrink wrap. No significant signs of wear. Corners are sharp, not bumped, one has a tiny hint of rub not worth mentioning. Back is clean, bone white with only a hint of age at open edge of shrink. The shrink is intact, no tears, no wear, no yellowing. Hard to upgrade. Top copy!
Grade: Near Mint (NM)
Vinyl looks great, still retains its original glossy shine. No apparent scratches or scuffs, just some faint, superficial shadowy whisper signs of having been taken out of paper inner sleeve a few times. Labels are clean, no wear around spindle holes. Looks like this record has maybe been played only a couple times at most but handled with care.
Spot-Tested: The record sounds very nice--just a hint of factory pressing noise in quiet passages--typical of these '70s Atlantic pressings. Not audiophile clean, but none of them are, even NM copies. Still a very nice original!
Grade: Excellent (EX)
Combined Shipping:
Yes, I offer significant combined shipping discounts. Just ask!
International Shipping:
Because
of unreliable postal services, buyers in France and Italy must pay for
Expedited international shipping, which includes tracking and
insurance. I've had too many records lost or damaged shipping to these
countries. Also, I do not ship to Central or South America, or China.
How I Pack Your Records:
I
remove the records with inner sleeves from the covers prior to
packing. I sandwich the record between two pieces of cardboard for
padding and protection. I also reinforce the corners of the shipping
box to protect the corners of the record jacket from damage.
