Jacket shows moderate overall wear, please view photos to determine suitability for you.
Includes scarce original Golden Crest inner sleeve, and response card.
Don't miss this highly collectible gem!
From the back of the album;
For sometime past word has been seeping down from the Northern NY State area of a really fine group of jazz musicians and their many, many devotees. Thru the past 7 years, as the young college students who work seasonally at the many upstate resorts have gone back to their schools and upon graduation to their homes, the fame of this group spread through the Northeast. Finally Golden Crest Records heard about them. After investigating the reports here are the facts.
Back in 1950 Paul Jouard and Charles William Harmon, (better known as Paul and Charlie) who were playing at the Lake Placid Club, started what is now the Lake Placid Jazz Club. Officially headquartered at the Alpine Lodge, the Sunday nite sessions are an absolute must for lovers of good jazz anywhere near the Lake Placid area. Anyone who has vacationed or spent time isn’t his area knows this is the place to be on Sunday nite if you have a feeling for rhythm and life.
On this Golden Crest Album you’ll hear a community sing of more than 300 young vibrant voices with a Dixieland accompaniment that Basin Street and all of New Orleans will envy. An old-timer (anyone over 35) will wonder that these young people too have a feeling for the old songs rivaling their own.
With Paul (Paul Jouard) on the piano, Charlie (Charles William Harmon) on the clarinet, Leo (Leo Camera) on drums, Willie (William M Wayman) on trumpet, Doc (Dwight L Murphy Jr) on bass and Johnny (John N Huwiler) on trombone, the group’s rendition of Muskrat Ramble, Tin Roof Blues and Walkin’ seems to show that good jazz, indigenous to America can originate up north near the Canadian Border, sown south near the Gulf of Mexico or anywhere. All your need are musicians such as there and an audience to cheer them on to the superlative results we hear on the record.
