MICKIE MOST & THE GEAR - That's Alright B/W NICKY JAMES - My Colour Is Blue
Format - 7" Black Vinyl Repro
Condition - New
When originally issued in 1964 Mickie Most only sang the 'B' side (Money Honey), and he wasn't even in the studio when Miki Dallon took the vocals on "That's Alright"! On guitar of course, is the legendary Jimmy Page who's the star of this recording.Obviously a fan of Joe Moretti and "Brand New Cadillac", he's taken the riff to another stratosphere, and the break is just wonderful. One of the finest recordings ever cut in a UK studio for sure.
On the flip is Nicky James "My Colour Is Blue". Originally issued on Pye in '63, it pretty much vanished when released. Far too many good records being made back then, so there was a lot of casualties. A bit like today really, Not!
< Powered by eCommercePlayer.comOne of the strangest and best releases from the UK! What Mort Shuman was doing in a UK studio, recording songs he and Doc Pomus had recently written for Fabian, is anyone's guess. Perhaps he thought Fabian had done crap versions and wanted to put them right! If that was the case then he nailed it. "I'm A Man" seamlessly grooves from the beginning and the musicians involved are top notch. I think he probably loved doing this, and hearing him egg on Joe Brown before the guitar break pretty much confirms it. One hell of a 45!!!!!
