Yes, Gunnar, Kirsten, Hallvard and Tellef have gathered once again around the fire in a cozy Norwegian home to share their lovely music played with fiddle and flute.
Or, as the back of the jacket puts it, "Fokemusikk byggier bade pa tradisjon og nyuskaping - den er ei levande musekkform under stadig utvikling og endring.
Or, as my computer translation puts it, Folk music builds on both tradition and innovation - it is a living form of music that is constantly evolving and changing. But seldom does one break directly with the old: music that has been honed through use for many generations must be viable, and able to withstand great changes. This album contains good folk music from bae agderfylka, performed by utovarar with a sure sense of the traditional playing style and singing food. At the same time, it sees a new feature of the Norwegian folk music tradition; that utovarane begin to use various forms of arranged sapphire, without drawing in instruments from other forms of music.
Vinyl shows some fine surface threads, but sounds terrific. Includes a multi-page foldout insert with interesting vintage photos of Norwegian musicians of olde, and lots of valuable commentary (if you speak Norwegian). very rare lp - almost impossible to find in U.S. - don't miss it!
