My Grading System:

All recordings are visually inspected under high-intensity lights, using a customized grading system. Vinyl that has been play tested will be marked accordingly (PT).
Records play tested using a Technics SL-1200 MK turntable with a Stanton 680-EL DJ Cartridge, tracking at 2.5 G.
Mint (M)-10: This is the unicorn of vinyl records. It simply does not exist!

Near Mint(NM)-9.5:The Loch Ness Monster of vinyl.I believe Nessie exists, just haven't seen her!

Excellent(EX)- 9: This is the highest grade for records that I use (even new/unopened). The record is in beautiful condition & shows no visible signs of wear or damage that will affect sound quality.
VG++ 8: The condition is very good, but there may be slight ring or cover wear, the cover may have minor seam splitting or the vinyl may have light visual marks. There could be slight surface sound.
VG+ 7: Vinyl may have light scratches or other visual blemishes, but should play through without skipping or repeating. Surface/background noise(pops-clicks) and/or crackle may be present. Covers may have moderate ring and/or edge wear, cut-outs, hole punches, or a very moderate seam split.
VG  6 & Below: Sound quality is low and the cover may be in very poor shape. I consider any item graded at or below VG as a low grade item. I only sell records rated VG and above unless the rarity of a record overshadows the poor quality of the vinyl and/or cover.

Please Note: My grading system is not based on the Goldmine system. If you have any questions about the grading of a specific item, please don't hesitate to email me before bidding.
BE AWARE:  Any vinyl graded less than EX is NOT COMPATIBLE for turntables using audiophile grade cartridges which track at .5 grams or less!
Vinyl grading is not an exact science. Most items are graded visually. I try to grade all vinyl a bit lower than what it actually is,hoping that the item you receive is better than what you expected. I have been a collector of all things vinyl, for more than 50 years. I have seen vinyl that looks pristine, which sounds horrible. I have seen vinyl that looks bad, which sounds very good.1980's vintage U.S. pressed vinyl I have purchased new, has sounded like it was run through a cement mixer!!! Therefore, from time to time, there may be a bit of a discrepancy in the vinyl grading. If the discrepancy is too great, please contact me, so that the matter can be resolved. Thanks for looking. Good luck bidding. Rick.
