Patti Smith's stunning John Cale-produced debut LP on UK Arista ARTY 122. 1975.
It's no exaggeration to say this LP changed my life. I first heard it a school friend's house in 1975 and immediately went out and bought my own copy (this one). Myself and the same friend went up to The Roundhouse for her first UK gigs and we had tickets numbered 001 and 002 - I still have mine. We even managed to blag our way in the the after-show part at The Roundhouse. This astounding LP led me into the punk scene via Television, Ramones, Heartbreakers, and of course Sex Pistols.
This atmospheric and mind-blowing LP is in great shape. I have to grade the vinyl as VG+ - there's a few surface marks/hairlines due to being taken in and out of the (original) plain white inner sleeve. Blue Arista label. Plays great, no jumps or skips. Almost 50 years old too - that's just plain scary.
Unlaminated sleeve is VG+. Just the slightest beginnings of ringwear in the front top and bottom. 4 sharp corners and a perfect spine. No writing, tears or stains.
Runouts: Side 1: ARTY 122 A - 1U Side 2: ARTY 122 B - 1U
I've got some other Patti Smith vinyl listed too.
I have been selling off all my old vinyl and memorabila. This LP was hard to let go as it has massive sentimental value - but go it must. I played it today for the first time in decades, on Naim kit, in order to grade.
