Original 1st pressing factory sealed copy of Lou Reed’s 11th studio album “The Blue Mask” released on the RCA Records label on February 23, 1982 after Reed left Arista Records. “The Blue Mask” touches upon the themes of marriage, violence and alcoholism and the album received the critics’ appraisal with Robert Palmer of The New York Times hailing it as the year’s “most outstanding rock album” and writing that “Reed had finally matched the ‘hard, thoughtful, unflinching songs’ of The Velvet Underground’s groundbreaking debut from 1967”. Please take into consideration that you can also find an outstanding Mono copy of The Velvet Underground & Nico currently listed at our auction. This 1st pressing factory sealed copy comes with an original the “Rolling Stone" magazine” April 15, 1982 advert of “The Blue Mask” which includes a portrait illustration of Reed drawn by Patty Dryden, an image of the album and the first page of the album review, called “Lou Reed Uncorks a Great One”, written by Tom Carson. The album cover was designed by Reed's then wife, Sylvia, and features a blue version of a photograph by Mick Rock from the cover art of 1972's Transformer. The 1st pressing catalog number AFL1-4221 is indicated on the back cover and the top of the spine. The credits at the bottom spine read: “RCA Corporation ©1982 RCA Records, New York, N.Y. Printed in U.S.A.”
