Original very early 1st US Mono East Coast, Jacksonville, IL pressing plant copy with the rarest of all "Sgt. Pepper" cover variations. The final Mono cover containing the "MACLEN MUSIC INC." credits at the bottom right corner on the back and "© 1967 NEMS - NEMS ENTERPRISES LIMITED" credits located vertically at the bottom right corner along the spine. The majority of the Mono covers don’t contain the credits. Only a handful of these final cover variations were made before the Mono issue went completely out of print. It's simply impossible to find this cover having the MAS-2653 catalog number and "NEMS / MACLEN" credits on the back. The top right corner of the cover contains a Capitol Records promotional 0.5” punch hole. Original thick cardboard cover contains the 1st print gimmick cut-out insert printed on the glossy paper and 1st print custom red-pink-white "psychedelic" paper inner sleeve. Original 1st print Capitol Records Jacksonville "thick in-house print" incorrect labels with a multicolor band and a white perimeter print without the "Subsidiary of..." text. Side 1 label contains a misprint indicating the "With A Little Help From My Friend" track title as "A Little Help From My Friend". The 1st print vinyl pressed at the Capitol Records Jacksonville, IL pressing plant contains the "O" identifier in the trail-off vinyl on both sides. The full matrix number are as follows: Side 1 – MAS-X-1 2653 G7 O; Side 2 - MAS-X-2 2653-F8 #5 O.

I grade the cover as Excellent. It's super clean and doesn't have any splits or writing. The rigid spine contains a fully readable text. The front cover has some very light hints of ring wear at the top and bottom. The cover's interior is in Near Mint condition, just like the original gimmick cut-out insert and "psychedelic" inner sleeve. The vinyl is graded as Very Good Plus. It retains its beautiful factory gloss but has some very light non-feelable hairlines along with some very light scuffs from the original paper inner sleeve. The labels are in stunning scuff- and wear-free Near Mint condition. The vinyl sounds great with just some very light static which most likely could get reduced or go away completely if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI machine. The beginning of the B1 track has a couple of very light clicks, but perhaps you won't hear them if the weight of your tone-arm is lighter than ours.
