Original very early promotional copy of John Lennon’s debut album released by Apple Records on December 11, 1970 in a factory sealed condition. 1st print cover with a promotional 0.5” punch hole in the upper right-hand corner. The cover contains a very rare combination of two stickers featuring a black sticker with "John Lennon" text and catalog number 3372 without the "SW" suffix and a clear track listing hype sticker located only on the 1st pressings, also having the catalog number 3372 without the "SW" suffix. The black “John Lennon” hype sticker doesn’t include the “Printed in USA” text that appeared on later pressing copies. The back cover contains "Manufactured by Apple Records, Inc. 1700 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10019 Printed in U.S.A" in the lower left-hand corner. Original custom Apple Records SW 3372 catalog number label with the "Produced By John and Yoko and Phil Spector Recorded in England" text at the bottom of both sides. All of the issues of this album include an original custom inner sleeve with the "For Yoko with love John Lennon 9/10/70" dedication handwritten by John and a sketch drawing of John and Yoko below the text. The inner sleeve includes the song lyrics and credits (including Ringo Starr). When this album was released in the UK, EMI Records made sure that each "f**cking" in the "Working Class Hero" was bowdlerized through the use of asterisks on the inner sleeve. However, despite Capitol Records' concerns, in the US the album didn't undergo any censorship. Therefore, the lyrics printed on the inner sleeve still contain "f**cking" in "Working Class Hero" and "c**k" in "I Found Out". This isn’t the only promotional copy of John Lennon’s album currently listed at this auction. Please pay attention that we’ve listed the part of a large collection of Beatles solo albums. This listing also includes a very rare original 1970 “John Lennon Plastic Ono Band” retail record store LP divider with the metallic raspberry and celestial blue text measuring 14" x 12".
★
The promotional album is in stunning Mint Minus condition only having a very light barely noticeable crease near the punch hole in the upper right-hand corner. The original LP divider is very clean and is in great vintage condition.
