Original Columbia Records 1st US pressing of Bob Dylan’s 2nd studio album “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan” released on May 27th, 1963. Unlike the debut album which contained only two songs composed by Bob Dylan, this album already has 11 out of 13 tracks composed by the artist himself. This copy listed for an auction is a very early 1st pressing with an original hype sticker affixed to the front cover underneath the original factory shrink wrap. This promotional rectangular 3¼” x 2⅝” hit single “Blowin’ In The Wind” sticker was placed on the very early 1st run copies of this album. The cover is in stunning condition and still remains in the original factory shrink wrap. The original 1st print cover manufactured by Modern Album Finishing Co. contains the “1” in the lower right-hand corner on the back. Original 1st print Columbia Records red 2-eye 2.75” pressing ring labels with the “Guaranteed High-Fidelity” text, “CL-1986” catalog number and “Non-Breakable” banner. The vinyl was pressed at the Columbia Records Pitman, NJ plant as identified by the “P symbol in the runout grooves and audio-wise represents perhaps the best-sounding issue. The runout groove also clearly shows the “o” stamp identifying the mastering by Customatrix. Very early 1st pressing matrix numbers containing the 3B / 2A stampers are as follows: Side 1 – o XLP-58717-3B P; Side 2 – o XLP-58718-2A P. The album comes with the original dark blue striped Columbia Records inner sleeve. The auction’s winner will get a free bonus – original vintage 1st print 1963 “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan His Recorded Song Hits” 28-page songbook published by M. Witmark & Sons, New York, NY in 1963.

The beautiful cover remaining in the original factory shrink wrap is graded Near Mint Minus and perhaps, would be Mint- if it wasn't due to some light age discoloration spots in the upper left-hand corner on the back. The glossy vinyl is in Excellent Minus condition having only a couple of very light non-feelable hairlines along with few light scuffs from the original inner sleeve which is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any tears or splits only having just some very light age discoloration along the mouth. The Near Mint Minus labels are super clean and completely wear- and scuff-free. The original songbook is in great vintage condition with all of the pages intact and only has some very light shelf wear.
