Original authentic Deram Records promotional Mono issue of Procol Harum’s 1st studio album released in September, 1967. This US issue released on Deram Records is different from the UK version and contains the first hit and one of the band’s most famous tracks “A Whiter Shade of Pale” which was released as a 7” single several months before the album’s release date. This promotional copy was prepared by Deram Records to be shipped to radio stations in the US and was not intended for sale. This information can be read on the promotional sticker affixed to the cover itself underneath the factory shrink wrap. The upper part of the factory sealed album’s front cover contains a hype sticker promoting the “A White Shade of Pale” single affixed to the shrink wrap. Very early copies of this album were equipped with a gigantic 22” x 33” Procol Harum poster which is also indicated on the previously described hype sticker. The large black and white poster repeats the design of the album’s front cover. The Mono “DE 16008” catalog number is indicated at the bottom of the sticker and the cover’s bottom spine and lower left-hand corner, next to the “Mono” banner.  Original 1st printed textured raw matte cover with the fully intact shrink wrap containing breathe holes, one on each side of the album. The majority of copies of this album were issued in the Stereo format and coming across the Mono version is incredibly rare, especially in the factory sealed Mint condition. The design of Deram Records labels represents the brown / white labels with the white “Deram” banner against the brown background in the labels’ upper half. If this copy is the Monarch, LA or Bestway, NJ pressing, then below the spindle hole the labels might contain the black “Mono” banner which is absent on the Terre Haute, IN plant pressings.
