Uber rare set, said to be only 10 or 12 in existence, and all or most are in private collections. Technichord Presents a Bach Recital on the Baroque Organ in the Germanic Museum Harvard University played by E. Power Biggs, organist. Set of 5 12" shellac records in a Technichord cardboard folder with 24-page booklet. Biggs had presented performances of Bach's works in 1937 when the organ was first installed to national acclaim and the Technichord effort constitutes his first US recording after he emigrated to the States. Intended as a sales tool for Baroque organ salesmen and not for distribution to the general public. The organ featured in these recordings was installed in 1937 and the recordings were made in 1939. Also remarkable because the records are recorded synchronously so that sides 1 &10 are on the first; sides 2 & 9 on the next, etc. so that they can be stacked on the spindle and then flipped after the first five sides are played.
Sides 1, 2 & 3: Bach-Vivaldi Concerto in A Minor No. 2; Side 4: "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme"; Sides 5 - 8: Prelude and Fugue in E Flat Major and Sides 9 & 10: Trio Sonata No. 1 in E Flat Major.
Records and cover are in excellent condition, especially considering their age. Will ship same or next business day carefully packaged in a 14" X 14" X 6" box, approximate weight 6 lbs.
