In September, 1974, 93/KHJ Boss Radio in Los Angeles aired with a unique new broadcast format. During one week, the morning show would be hosted by a different guest superstar every day. On September 27th, the last day of 93/KHJ’s “SuperStar Week”, the appearance of John Lennon as the guest disc jockey came as a pleasant surprise to many. While on the air from 6 to 9 am, John was answering numerous questions of fans, including the ones that were related to the release of his new album “Walls and Bridges”, the majority of songs from which were performed by John live during the broadcast and that became available in stores the same day. During the live read for Tower Records, John says: “Tower will have my latest album Walls and Bridges this afternoon, so go get it!”. On September 27th, the Tower Records on Sunset Strip, the biggest music store in the world at that time, greeted its customers with a large amount of advertisement related to the new “Walls and Bridges” album. Being in the 93/KHJ studio the whole-time during Lennon’s show, this promotional copy became a living witness of these events. The copy with the Apple Records promotional punch hole in the upper right corner remains factory sealed, perhaps due to the fact that there was no need to open it during the live broadcast. The album was issued with a custom gatefold cover containing two, 2-sided 4" x 12" flaps that reveal John's childhood drawings and can be used to flip over and create different images of John's face on the back.

This legendary program with John Lennon affected the final design of the merch which was being prepared by the 93/KHJ Boss Radio in the late 1974. The caricatures on the T-shirt, including the one of John Lennon on the right side, were drawn by the famous cartoonist Peter Green. We’ve talked to Peter on the phone. He lives in Florida now, going strong and is full of creative ideas. Along with John Lennon, the t-shirt includes the images of Elton John, another guest disc jockey of the “SuperStar Week”, Olivia Newton-John, John Denver and Stevie Wonder. Peter’s signature in the form of his full name is printed at the bottom of the drawing. Perhaps, this is the only remaining T-shirt from a limited batch that was produced by the company famous for its merch T-shirts in the 1970s, Fruit of the Loom. Never this T-shirt has come into the sight of collectors and it's absent in Peter Green’s archive. Outstanding promotional set related to the incredible characters and story. The factory sealed copy is in Mint Minus condition with only the top left corner having a  very light barely noticeable tear which most likely happened due to the tight shrink wrap. The 100% cotton T-shirt is in great vintage condition only having some light traces of a professional repair. The size indicated on the tag is Small and the actual measurements are 15.5" for the chest with the length being 24.5".
