Original “PROMOTIONAL ALBUM - NOT FOR SALE” factory sealed copy of Lou Reed's second solo album "Transformer” released in November 1972 on RCA Victor Records. The album was produced and arranged by David Bowie who also provided the vocal backings as indicated in the credits on the back cover. Original 1st "Shorepak - U.S." printed cover with the gold ink finish at the top edge on the front and back. The front cover contains a large white 4' x 6' promotional sticker with the recommendations for radio station DJs to audition the album's tracks before radio airplay affixed underneath the shrink wrap. The sticker contains a track listing with the timing for each track, “TRANSFORMER LOU REED” banner, “PROMOTIONAL ALBUM - NOT FOR SALE” text and “LSP-4807” catalog number. The front cover also has a very rare black hype sticker reading “FEATURES THE COMPLETE, UNEDITED ‘WALK ON THE WILD SIDE’ LSP-4807” affixed to the shrink wrap. Whereas the back cover and sticker indicate the LSP-4807 catalog number, the bottom spine reads 0598. It’s impossible to find this promotional copy in a factory sealed vintage Mint condition with two original stickers.

Incredibly rare original 1st US issue Lou Reed “Transformer” songbook published by Charles Hansen Education Music & Books 1860 Broadway / New York, New York 10023. Fantastically creative design with the fully black pages having white text. The cover of the 8.5” x 11” songbook uses the photos and design of the LP album cover, including the gold ink finish, which were provided to Charles Hansen by RCA Records as seen from the “Cover: Courtesy of RCA Records” credit. The songbook with the notes and lyrics for all of the album’s songs has the “K598” catalog number located at the top right corner on the front cover above “$3.95” price as well as at the bottom of the spine. The back cover contains a track listing with the “All songs published by Oakfield Avenue Music Ltd. (BMI)” and “Printed in U.S.A. Available for sale in the United Kingdom” credit. All of the pages of the songbook are intact with the cover only having some light signs of use and age shelf wear.
