Original 1st US RCA Records pressing promotional DJ radio station copy of Lou Reed’s 3rd studio album “Berlin” released in July, 1973. It’s very hard to find a promotional issue of this conceptual album. Many consider it to be a rock opera. Unlike the commercial release, the cover of this promotional copy contains a large “NOT FOR SALE PROMOTION USE ONLY” embossed stamp in the upper left-hand corner. The album comes with an 8-page 11¾” x 11¾” booklet insert containing the lyrics, artwork and photos. The back side of the booklet contains the “APL1-0207” catalog number and “Printed in U.S.A.” credit at the bottom right corner. Just like the cover, the upper left corner of the insert contains the “NOT FOR SALE PROMOTION USE ONLY” embossed stamp. 1st print RCA Records orange labels with the “Dynaflex” logo, 1” Indianapolis, IN pressing ring and “APL1-0207” catalog number. 1st pressing vinyl contains the “ ⁄|⁄ǀ⁄|⁄ǀ⁄|⁄K” initials of the mastering engineer Randy F. Kling with the very early 1st matrix numbers being as follows: Side 1 – APL1 0207A 9S A1; Side 2 – APL1 0207B 9S  ⁄|⁄ǀ⁄|⁄ǀ⁄|⁄K A1. The album comes with the original poly-lined black inner sleeve.

The promotional cover is in Excellent condition only having some very light barely visible occasional shelf wear. It doesn't have any splits, writing or residue. I grade the vinyl as Excellent Plus for Side 1 and Strong Very Good Plus for Side 2 due to the presence of two visible marks that are non-feelable and don't affect the playback in any way. The beautiful vivid orange labels are in the very clean Near Mint Minus condition. The original black poly-lined inner sleeve and booklet are in Near Mint Minus condition. The vinyl sounds outstanding with only some very light occasional static that most likely will go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
