Vinyl LP pressing. Jar of Flies is the third studio EP by American rock band Alice in Chain’s. It was released January 1994, by Columbia Records.
“Jar of Flies” is an EP (extended play) by the American rock band Alice in Chains, released on January 25, 1994. It is significant for being the first EP to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The EP was recorded in just one week during April 1993 at the London Bridge Studio in Seattle, Washington.
The EP consists of seven tracks, including the singles “No Excuses” and “I Stay Away.” It showcased a departure from the heavy, electric sound of their previous albums, featuring more acoustic instrumentation and introspective lyrics. This change in musical direction was partly due to the band’s desire to experiment with their sound and explore different musical territories.
