Vintage 6 Album / 8 LP Lot #130: Various Artists Compilations Featuring Big Band, Swing, Jazz, Pop, Vocals and Other Popular Styles Including The Currently Popular Harry James Song "It's Been A Long, Long Time"
Comments:
This lot contains a fantastic collection of old popular tunes from the 30s, 40s and 50s. There are 6 different albums containing a total of 8 LPs. I listened to each and every one of these records from start to finish after cleaning them. There is a real nice variety of familiar tunes as well as some great songs I didn't know. The music sounded good all the way through the 8 LPs. The album covers show some wear, as you can see in the photos. See further comments below where each album is described.
Visual Record Condition: The vinyl condition varies, but all of the records look decent. Individual LP grades are shown below. The records are still glossy with varying amounts of surface scuffs / light scratches.
Record Labels Condition: Varies, but most are fine.
Jacket Type and Condition: The jackets are generally in VG condition give or take, with some amount of wear. Defects include things like moderate to heavier general wear, creases, dents, edge wear, corner wear, seam splits, taped seams, writing, stains, foxing, moisture marks, etc. Some of these LPs have writing or a sticker on the back sides of the covers from a previous owners habits.
Inner Sleeve Type and Condition: Some of the records are in new or used, replacement inner sleeves while some are in their original sleeves. Sleeve condition varies.
The Albums In The Lot: When listening to these records, keep in mind that the source material for some of the songs was old 78 rpm records. Sometimes you will hear record surface noise from the 78's as you listen to the LPs. Long Ago And Far Away - The Great Love Songs Of The 40s (Single LP Version) from 1974: It might look like there are two copies of this album in the lot, but there aren't. Columbia House issued both a single LP version and a double LP version using the same title. I didn't notice any overlap in songs between the two versions. Anyway, this is the single LP version. An insert showing the track list is included. There is some writing on the insert. The record is in VG+ condition and sounds great with minimal background record surface noise for the most part and a little crackle toward the end of Side 2. The sound quality is excellent. This is the record containing the Harry James song mentioned above. The album cover is in worn, VG condition. Long Ago And Far Away - The Great Love Songs Of The 40s (Double LP Version) from 1974: An insert showing the track list is included. There is some writing on the insert. The records are in high-end VG to VG+ condition and sound great with minimal to mild background record surface noise for the most part. Occasionally light ticks are heard. The sound quality is excellent. This is a super sounding collection of classics. The album cover is in worn, VG condition. Sentimental Journey (Double LP) from Brookville / RCA Victor, 1972: The records are in glossy, high-end VG condition. The sound quality is excellent. Background record surface noise is heard as mild crackle with occasional ticks and clicks. Sometimes ticks/clicks persist for several revolutions before going away. I didn't think record surface noise was a bother. This is a very enjoyable collection of songs. There is a very slight warp in the Side 1/4 disc, but it has no effect on play. This album contains a prominent example of surface noise from a 78 rpm record being carried into the LP. The song "Louise" has very noticeable 78rpm record surface noise. The album cover is in very worn, VG- condition. I printed out a track list for this album. You can see it in the photos and it will be included with the album for easy reference. Those Memory Years, Volume 1, 1969: Here is another case where if you don't look closely, you might think there are two copies of the same album in the lot. That's not the case though. It's just volume 1 and 2 of a set and the album covers are very similar looking at first glance. The record is in high-end VG condition - glossy with surface scuffs. The sound quality is excellent overall with minimal to mild background record surface noise and occasional light ticks. There are songs where surface noise from the original 78rpm records is heard. The album cover is in slightly worn, VG+ condition. There is some writing on the back side. Those Memory Years, Volume 2, 1969: The record is in lower-end VG condition - still glossy, but with more surface scuffs and light scratches. The sound quality is excellent overall and the music is easily enjoyed over mild to moderate background record surface crackle. There are a lot of ticks and light clicks throughout. Sometimes the ticks are persistent. I didn't think the surface noise / ticks / clicks were a major distraction, but you will notice. The album cover is in worn, VG condition with a bottom seam split and some writing on the back side. The Legendary Big Bands, Ronco (As seen on TV), 1980, UK Issue made in Holland: The record is in beautiful Near Mint condition. The sound quality is wonderful and background record surface noise is minimal. The album contains a great selection of songs too. The album cover is in VG condition with a taped bottom seam split, some dried sticker residue on the front and some writing on the back side. Shipping Notes: These will be shipped with the records inside of the jackets unless you specifically ask that I remove the records from the jackets. Several different shipping service options are available for you to choose from at check-out. I generally pack and ship items sold right away and hand them over to the post office at the earliest opportunity (sometimes same day, sometimes next day).
Please see the photos to check out the condition for yourself to the extent possible. Zoom right in and have a good look. Ask questions if you are puzzled by anything.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOCAL PICKUP RULES: If Free Local Pickup is offered for this item and you choose that option instead of an option to have the item shipped to you, there are a few rules to be aware of. We both have to allocate time to make a pickup work smoothly, so please understand the local pickup rules. Don't choose free local pickup if you are expecting the item to be shipped to you (obviously). That won't work. Don't choose free local pickup if you live far far away, but think you might be in the area someday. That won't work. Pickup arrangements will always be made for a specific date and time, very close to the purchase date. Please don't ask me to hold something for extended periods of time. Pickup arrangements will be made after payment is received for the item. I will specify a location to meet. Payment must be made through eBay as soon as the item is purchased, just like for items shipped though USPS or UPS. No payments will be accepted in person. Failure to pay for the item in a timely manner may result in order cancellation. eBay provides a method to confirm the item has been picked up. At the time of this writing, that method is a QR code plus a six-digit code that can be found by looking at order details or in an email from eBay. YOU MUST BRING THE PICKUP CONFIRMATION CODE WITH YOU FOR EVERY ITEM TO BE PICKED UP. I can't hand over the item(s) without first scanning the pickup confirmation code(s). The codes can be printed or can be presented on your phone (eBay app or email). Items purchased for local pickup must be picked up in a timely manner, preferably the day of purchase or the next day. If you need more time than that to pickup your purchase, we must make arrangements before the item is purchased. Orders not picked up in a timely manner, as described, are subject to cancellation and the item will be relisted for sale. Failure to show up for the arranged pickup meeting will result in order cancellation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
