Radio Transcription Disc Recorded by International Artists, Inc. Hollywood, CA.  Two approximately 15 minute radio programs on this 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm disc.  This disc was produced for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare!

This disc contains two audition or promo episodes of a very interesting radio program starring Harpist Robert Maxwell.  The program is hosted by Rudy Vallee, and judging by the labels, Rudy Vallee was acting as Robert Maxwell's agent.  Programs are approximately 15 minutes each

The programs are described by Rudy Vallee as "A Series Of Harp Recitals" with "The Foremost American Harpist Of Today".  Both programs are complete and all songs are introduced by Rudy Vallee.  Rudy Vallee introduces the programs as the first and second programs of this series.  It is quite possible these were the only programs in this series that were ever produced

Program #1 Robert Maxwell plays on the harp the following songs: "Bouree" composed by Johan Sebastian Bach, "Minute Waltz" composed by Frederic Chopin, "Fantasy On Chopsticks" composed by Robert Maxwell, "Night And Day" composed by Cole Porter.  The program closes with a 45 second version of "Dinah"

Program #2 Robert Maxwell plays on the harp the following songs: "Rhapsodie" composed by Marcel Grandjany, "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" composed by Jerome Kern, "Aye Aye Aye", "Harping On A Harp" composed by Robert Maxwell

My best guess is these programs were recorded in 1948

I could not find any reference to this series of radio programs in any online radio log or database.   These programs may have been produced for audition purposes and never broadcast.  Very rare!

This disc come directly from the estate of Rudy Vallee

Disc is in Excellent+ condition with Near Mint- Sound, absolutely beautiful sound!!!  There is a very slight defect in the edge of the disc that does not effect play or the sound whatsoever

Please note that due to their size, most standard turntables will not play 16" radio transcription discs.  For $10 I can make a CD dub of the disc for the buyer only
