Incredibly rare and highly collectible Version 1 copy of Introducing the Beatles with a glossy blank white paste over slick, known among the collectors as the "Blank Back" cover, which most likely, was used as a cover for promotional issues of the album, or perhaps, was the result of a production error. It's certain that the blank back was used as a limited transitional run after all Ad Back slicks had been used. Never ever before we’ve come across a copy of “Blank Back” cover with a promotional red ink rubber stamp. The stamp reads “D.J. Copy Not For Sale” and is located at the center of the blank back cover. The original factory shrink wrap remains fully intact. We’ve attentively inspected the cover and there are no doubts that it’s authentic and original. There're no doubts that it's thanks to the shrink wrap that the cover remains in such an outstanding Near Mint condition. Possibly, it’s the best example of this cover variation that we’ve come across with, which has the blank back paste over slick in superb virgin condition. This copy is a very early 1st Mono version of Introducing the Beatles. Vee-Jay had to remove the songs that the company didn't have a license for "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You", replacing them with "Ask Me Why?" and "Please, Please Me", which you can find on the second version of this album. Original 1st print Vee-Jay VJLP 1062 catalog number oval VJ logo deep groove 2.75” diameter pressing ring label with a multicolored spectrum (“rainbow”) band along the labels’ edge. The label includes the 1st withdrawn track lineup, featuring "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". The vinyl of this copy was pressed by the American Record Pressing Co. at their plant in Owosso, Michigan. The 1st pressing matrix numbers in the trail-off vinyl are as follows: Side 1 - 63-3402 A1 AudioMatrix ARP / Side 2 - 63-3403 A1 AudioMatrix ARP. This very early 1st issue comes with the original Vee-Jay Records “Other Fine Albums Of Significant Interest" white background inner sleeve featuring 25 color photos of other Vee-Jay releases on each side.
★
The cover is in beautiful Near Mint condition (practically Mint Minus) with a very clean "Blank Back" slick and retains in its original factory shrink wrap, which is fully intact and doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces. I grade the vinyl as Excellent Minus for Side 1 and Excellent for Side 2. The glossy vinyl has only a couple of very light surface marks with Side 1 having a light hairline that can slightly be felt with a finger nail, but which doesn't affect the playback at all. The very clean labels are in Near Mint Minus condition, scuff- and wear-free, with only a couple of very light spindle marks that can be seen under a strong light. The original Vee-Jay inner sleeve is in Near Mint condition without any tears or splits. The vinyl sounds amazing with just some very light occasional static that can be heard only at a loud volume during the quiet passages and which most likely would go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
