"Rudy Vallee And Company" radio transcription discs recorded by Edwin Strong Incorporated, Jackson Heights, New York. One complete 15 minute radio program on these two 12 inch, black lacquer coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm discs. These discs were recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare!
This program stars Rudy Vallee & His Orchestra in a remote broadcast from the roof of The Astor Hotel in New York City from July 2, 1938.
Rudy Vallee mentions that this is the last show of the season of these broadcasts from The Hotel Astor, and I believe this was the last season of these broadcasts, so this is possibly the last broadcast of Rudy Vallee performing from the roof of The Hotel Astor in New York City.
The broadcast includes special guest, songwriter Sammy Fain who plays piano and sings a medley of his songs "That Old Gang Of Mine / Nobody Knows What A Red Head Mama Can Do / Let A Smile Be Your Umbrella / When I Take My Sugar To Tea / Was That The Human Thing To Do / You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me / Beside A Waterfall / Every Day I Fall In Love All Over Again / That Old Feeling / I Can Dream Can't I / Eight Little Notes"
Rudy Vallee & His Orchestra play "Eight Little Notes" vocal Rudy Vallee (introduced as Sammy Fain's latest song), "In A Little Dutch Kindergarten" vocal Caryl Gould (first verse only as song is cut off by the closing announcement
Program includes an excellent interview of Sammy Fain by Rudy Vallee
Includes original 5 page script from the show
Program is complete and approximately 15 minutes. Originally broadcast on NBC
Discs and script came directly from the estate of Rudy Vallee
I could not find any reference to any existing copy of this radio program in any online radio log or database.
