Original true 1st Capitol Records Compressed pressing with the -B29 / -B28 / -A28 / -B29 matrix numbers and 1st print Apple Records labels containing all 7 misspelling errors. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that finding this pressing in a such condition and combination is extremely hard. 1st batch cover containing the Scranton, PA plant’s leading “A” before the number still remains in the original factory shrink wrap. Underneath the shrink wrap, the front cover contains the original song title “The Beatles” hype sticker at the center top. This promotional copy features a full set of promotional memorabilia, which includes a large double-sided 23" x 34" color poster, four 8" x 10" portrait photos, one of each Beatle, having the "Printed in USA" logo in the lower left-hand corner, and an extremely rare 8" x 10" green separator sheet. The album comes with the original Capitol Records plain white inner sleeves. The full 1st matrix numbers include the identifier of the Scranton plant pressing “IAM in a Triangle” etched on all of the sides and are as follows:

SIDE 1: SWBO-1-101-B29 IAM

SIDE 2: SWBO-2-101-B28 IAM

SIDE 3: SWBO-3-101-A28 IAM

SIDE 4: SWBO-4-101-B29 IAM

Known as the “HARRISON” compressed mastering, this pressing was supposed to be destroyed upon George’s insistence when he heard it during his visit to Capitol Records in 1968. In Harrison’s opinion, Capitol’s mastering was too compressed which altered a major number of effects on the album. This story didn’t end there because the first lacquers with the compressed mastering weren’t destroyed in spite of Harrison’s insistence and somehow were used to make the metal stampers. The copies of “The Beatles” whose matrix stampers end in numbers less than 34 were pressed using these metal stampers and contain the compressed mastering.

The snow white cover is in marvelous condition and graded as Near Mint, perhaps even Mint Minus. It's super clean and doesn't have any splits or tears, with the factory shrink wrap being fully intact. Two small yellow spots that you see at the center top of the back cover aren't the discoloration spots or foxing but actually the factory glue that bled over the edge of the paste over slick when it was affixed to the cover during the manufacturing process. All of the original memorabilia are in great Near Mint condition. We grade the vinyl as:

Side 1 - Very Good Plus (Visually) / Excellent (Audio)

Side 2 - Strong Very Good (Visually) / Excellent (Audio)

Side 3 - Between Strong Very Good and Very Good Plus (Visually) / Excellent Minus (Audio)

Side 4 - Very Good Plus (Visual) / Excellent (Audio)

The vinyl retains its beautiful factory gloss but has some very light non-feelable surface marks and hairlines as well as very light scuffs from the original inner sleeves that are in Near Mint condition and don't have any splits or tears. All of the labels are graded as somewhere between Excellent Plus and Near Mint Minus condition. They're very clean just having several barely visible spindle marks that can only be seen under a strong light. The vinyl sounds great just having some very light occasional static that's heard only at a loud volume during the quiet passages and which most likely would go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
