Two amazing limited edition vinyl editions from Chicago's legends of the 2-Tone era HEAVY MANNERS!
In this exclusive bundle you get the 2010 limited edition 12" "Get Me Out of Debt" 12" EP (description below) and the brand new 7" vinyl reissue from the recent Jimi Robinson benefit show in Chicago, featuring two early 80's recordings on vinyl for the first time ever: "Ska Jam" and a live version of "Blue Beat". This single is limited to 100 copies for mail order sales.
Legendary early 80's Chicago 2 TONE ska/reggae group
re-enter the studio after 27+ years! Hopefully, over the years you have found copies of their classic DISTURBING RECORDS vinyl releases - the POLITICS OF PLEASURE LP, the SAY IT! 12", and their two killer 7" singles for FLAMIN' FIRST and TAKIN' THE QUEEN TO TEA. In the early 90's, they appeared on - JUMP UP Record's AMERICAN SKATHIC series compilations. Interest in early 80's midwest 2 TONE ska began to grow! During the mid-90's ska revival, more of this vintage material was compiled on the "HEAVIER THAN NOW" CD with bonus live material. But now, the full original line up is back in full glory. Not only are they playing LIVE gigs in CHICAGO (first one JULY 25th at TASTE OF LINCOLN fest), but 2010 saw them get into the studio to record two brand new tracks with that retro 80's vibe! "GET ME OUTTA DEBT" is a witty ska
tune with bouncey keys, jabbing 80's sax & new wavey female vocals. Just as you remember them! Super 80's, super fun. "FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT"
is more conscious roots reggae tune, with a rock guitar solo that harkens back to the late 70's rock crossover reggae sound! And that is not all - in all of this excitement, an original unreleased nugget from back in the day unsurfaced! It was so unique that the release quickly was extended to a 12" vinyl single just to make room for it! Old reel tapes were backed, transfered and remastered. The final lost HEAVY MANNERS tune was ready to be unleashed! "COULD NOT GET ENUFF (DUB)" is a tune produced by PETER TOSH back in the early 80's. PETER TOSH also provides backing vocals. This DUB is not your typical dub, how you would expect a "reggae dub" to sound. This is much more unique, and could have ONLY come from CHICAGO during the early 80's. Influenced by disco's last gasp, but in Chicago turning into the infant stages of house music, this PETER TOSH tune extends and versions out vocals, sax, and puts the focus on the bassline groove, which is still very Jamaican, but also very club. Post- disco? Proto-house? Yes. Jamaican riddims? Yes! Upon hearing this track, JUMP UP RECORDS label head Chuck Wren was determined to get this track out!
Three tracks, limited edition WHITE VINYL copies (250 only). 12" vinyl record. Pressed LOUD on 45RPM thick wax for DJs.
