THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO - Verve V-5008

This is an original 1st pressing, Deep groove Mono LP. Includes an original Verve inner sleeve.
The banana sticker is still intact, but peeled slightly at the top. This is the first edition cover with the inverted Eric Emerson torso image on the back.

I grade the vinyl at VG. It’s heavy, nice and shiny, but has scuffs, and some faint scratches. This mono pressing plays with excellent fidelity, no skips or loud crackle. Because of the rarity of this LP, I thought a play grade, by track, would be appropriate. So, here you go:

Side One

"Sunday Morning" - Surface noise at the lead-in, light surface noise for the 1st 30 seconds, then occasionally but not consistent for the rest of the song.

"I'm Waiting for the Man" - Plays near perfect.

"Femme Fatale" - Soft surface noise at the intro, then occasionally but not consistent for the rest of the song.

"Venus in Furs" - Soft surface noise at the intro for the first 5 seconds, the rest plays near perfect.

"Run Run Run" - Soft surface noise at the intro for the first 7 seconds, the rest plays near perfect.

"All Tomorrow's Parties - Soft surface noise at the intro for the first few seconds, then sporadic split second surface noise.

Side two

"Heroin" - Surface noise at the intro, tics for the 1st 15 seconds, occasional but not consistent soft surface noise.

"There She Goes Again" - Plays perfectly.

"I'll Be Your Mirror" - 4 tics at the intro, then occasional but not consistent soft surface noise.

"The Black Angel's Death Song" - Occasional but not consistent soft surface noise.

"European Son" - occasional but not consistent soft surface noise, split second at a time.

The COVER still has nice color and gloss. There's surface wear, some fluid stains along the bottom, and age discoloration. There's some paper chipping on the spine and on the crease inside the gate-fold cover.

GRADING - (DONE VISUALLY, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED) Near Mint is my highest grade & I don't use ++. I don't grade covers but I do describe them.

NEAR MINT (NM) - Nearly perfect vinyl. No obvious signs of wear. Clean looking labels. Looks like it was hardly ever played. This record looks like it will play without any surface noise.

EXCELLENT (EX) - An excellent quality record with no more than a few very faint scuffs. This record may look like it has been played, but handled with extreme care.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) - Record surface may show some slight signs of wear and may have light scuffs, but nothing you can feel with your fingertip. Faint surface noise may be present between tracks and at the lead in.

VERY GOOD (VG) - Many of the defects found on a VG+ record are more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise may be heard but will not overpower the music. There may be light scratches that will affect the sound with occasional pop and crackle.
