Title: MAHLER Symphony No 2 in C minor 'Resurrection'

Format: 12" vinyl LP (album) - 2 records in individual flipback sleeves

Label: Columbia - Blue/Silver

Catalogue number: SAXO 2473-4 (this is an "Australian labeled" record- HOWEVER - it uses UK sleeves and stampers. It is if the same quality as the UK pressing. Here's your chance to grab a bargain!!!

Matrix / Mother/Stamper: Record 1:

Side 1: YAX 903-1 / 1

Side 2: YAX 904-8

Record 2:

Side 1: YAX 905-2

Side 2: YAX 906-2 / 1

Why use UK sleeves and stampers? Well, back in 1963 the market for top quality classical LP's in stereo was still emerging; none more so of an "emerging" market as Australia! So, like what they did with the Beatles debut LP the same year, EMI simply shipped UK made sleeves to Australia and equipped the stampers with the local labels, which simply added the letter "O" to the SAX catalogue number to make it a "local" pressing. But; the stampers are the same!!! You will not be disappointed with the pressing. Why fork out hundreds for a UK pressing when you have the same thing right here?! I have photographed a runout groove to show the pressing is the same as the UK version.

Audio: Stereo Composer(s): Mahler Work(s): Symphony No 2 in C minor 'Resurrection' Conductor/Director: Klemperer Orchestra: Philharmonia Orchestra Choir/Chorus: The Philharmonia Chorus Soprano: Schwarzkopf Mezzo-soprano: Rossl-Majdan

Condition (records): NM Condition (sleeve): EX

The sax 2473 (1st record) sleeve has some light rippling on the back as shown. Some light ring wear, but a solid EX.

Record VISUALLY appears NM; they look in almost unplayed condition although they obviously will need a clean. Both sides are gleaming with only one or two light fingerprint marks (easily removed!!!). Labels are Mint; no spindle marks or wear, whatsoever!!!

Record 2: Cover is strong EX, only the tiniest amount of laminate lift on one corner and very light ring wear. Record again appears NM, some light wear and one or two light fingerprints again the only blemish. Labels are MINT, superb untouched condition!

Amazing copy!!!!

Play grade: close to superb condition. Obviously played, but with a gentle clean, these will be hard to better.

General description: Very early copies pressed from the 1st mothers and the 5th, 3rd, 4th and 6th stampers. Just very minor wear to the sleeves. Incredibly rare in this condition.

I GRADE STRICTLY TO UK RECORD COLLECTOR STANDARD.

Payment by PayPal or direct bank deposit. I will not ship to Canada (too many problems in the past, sorry!). I will only ship by registered airmail. Insurance is extra.
