Hank Williams
The Garden Spot Programs 1950
Omnivore Recordings OVS10-86 2014 10" 33rpm (USA)
Lost and unheard for over 60 years! Limited-edition 10" on brown vinyl!
In February of 1950, Hank Williams hosted several Garden Spot radio shows for Naughton Farms, a plant nursery in Waxahachie, Texas. Backed by a studio group instead of his usual Drifting Cowboys, Hank sang his hits, as well as songs he rarely, if ever, performed elsewhere. And those performances were last heard on the radio, in Texas, 64 years ago . .
. . . Until now! Radio transcription discs of four Garden Spot Programs were recently discovered, and Omnivore Recordings is proud to present The Garden Spot Programs, 1950 — Extended Play. This collectible 10? single (plays at 33 1/3), packaged in a 78rpm-style sleeve with notes from co-producer Colin Escott, contains nearly 15 minutes of unheard Hank Williams. From smash hits like “Lovesick Blues” and “Mind Your Own Business” to instrumentals and standards, The Garden Spot Programs, 1950 — Extended Play is the perfect primer for the full-length release, The Garden Spot Programs, 1950, coming in May from Omnivore.
The Garden Spot Programs, 1950 — Extended Play 10? is a cause for celebration. It is a rare and wonderful occurrence when lost recordings are discovered. It is even more astonishing and important when that discovery is of lost recordings by one of our greatest artists of all time. This record reclaims a piece of our collective history.

A Note About Shipping To The U.S.
We are located in Canada, but have registered ourselves on eBay.com instead of eBay.ca because it gives us significantly better global exposure. The problem with this is that eBay wants us to charge shipping appropriate to US, where media mail and other options make for fairly reasonable delivery costs. We tried it for a while but ended up losing money on shipping or having to cancel the orders because we couldn't afford to ship for those rates. To manage this we have set the US shipping to run a calculator based on an American location (we chose Plattsburgh as fairly close) and charging according to UPS pricing. This avoids the cancellation issue, but appears to the buyer to be a prohibitive shipping cost and misrepresents the shipping as being only expedited. If you give us your postal code we will see if we can offer a more reasonable option, but generally we can get a single LP by air to most places in the continental US for $11, a few bucks less for ground.
