Mark Kozelek

What's Next To The Moon

Limited Edition RSD
Record Store Day 2015

Badman Records JJ33.45 1979 12" 33rpm (Canada)

Long before he was giving verbal noogies to The War On Drugs, the Mark Kozelek of 15 years ago was testing the waters of his then infant solo career with a pair of releases that pulled from a catalog one wouldn’t have banked on: AC/DC. It’s not as if Kozelek was a stranger to covers; He had turned The Cars’ deep-cut “All Mixed Up” into a spacious, moving performance all his own (which eventually got more commercial notice for a Gap holiday TV ad); and on Red House Painters’ Songs for a Blue Guitar, he made Paul McCartney’s “Silly Love Songs” an 11-minute gut-wrencher, but who knew the cock-rock strut of the Australian bad boys was prime material for a new vision.

What’s Next To The Moon (Kozelek’s debut solo LP, after his Rock ‘N’ Roll Singer EP gave a first indication to his AC/DC adoration) brings personal, chill-inducing intimacy to the band’s lesser-known Bon Scott-era material, such as “Up to My Neck in You” and “Love at First Feel.” Kozelek vinyl geeks will know that technically What’s Next never got a proper vinyl release until now, though If You Want Blood, a 2-LP set that features additional material, is currently going for $125 on Discogs as of this post.

A Note About Shipping To The U.S.
We are located in Canada, but have registered ourselves on eBay.com instead of eBay.ca because it gives us significantly better global exposure.  The problem with this is that eBay wants us to charge shipping appropriate to US, where media mail and other options make for fairly reasonable delivery costs. We tried it for a while but ended up losing money on shipping or having to cancel the orders because we couldn't afford to ship for those rates. To manage this we have set the US shipping to run a calculator based on an American location (we chose Plattsburgh as fairly close) and charging according to UPS pricing.  This avoids the cancellation issue, but appears to the buyer to be a prohibitive shipping cost and misrepresents the shipping as being only expedited. If you give us your postal code we will see if we can offer a more reasonable option, but generally we can get a single LP by air to most places in the continental US for $11, a few bucks less for ground.
Thanks for shopping Sir Helmitt,
