THE ZOMBIES sealed ODESSEY AND ORACLE with Time Of The Season Zarese vinyl LP
Noted  for gorgeous melodies and the soaring vocals of Colin Blunstone with the backing of  Rod Argents jazzy, classically influenced keyboard work, the band sounded in the mid-sixties British Invasion. It featured choral backup harmonies with songs written by Argent or bass guitarist Chris White that unexpectedly shifted from major to minor keys.

Odessey and Oracle developed into a fluke becoming hailed as one of the best albums recorded in the 60s.

The band members decided to make this LP their last hurrah recording this album with no pretense to their continued existence. A limited budget challenged them to improvise so this album contains one of the first effective uses of the Mellotron to flesh out string and horn sections for a rock band.

Three weeks after completing the disc, they disbanded.

This legendary album contains some of the most powerful psychedelia ever to issue out of England. The groups solid rhythm section, chiming hard guitar and hot Mellotron ground this album.

The well-written songs are always pleasing while remaining artistically challenging. Time of the Season, the groups most well known song has emerged as a white soul classic. Hung Up on a Dream showcases trumpets and is reminiscent of The Beatles Penny Lane. As a whole, the LP is interesting and very good listening, much more attainable than other psychedelic albums of the era.
